Mike Pineda, a dedicated public servant, began his journey on the Avondale City Council in 2016, marking the commencement of a transformative period for the community. His initial term, in January 2017, was a testament to his commitment to enhancing Avondale's quality of life. The trust and support of the community led to his re-election for a second term, commencing in 2021.
In recognition of his exemplary leadership, Vice Mayor Pineda was elected to a two-year term as Vice Mayor in January 2023. Undoubtedly, his dedication to the city is unwavering, as he now sets his sights on the mayoral role, embodying a vision for continued progress and prosperity.
Beyond the political arena, Vice Mayor Pineda's roots in community service run deep. He played pivotal roles on the Littleton Elementary School District's Governing Board, showcasing his commitment as a Board Member, Vice President, and President. Additionally, his impact extends to youth sports, where he served as a coach in both football and baseball for over a decade.
Currently, Vice Mayor Pineda is an influential figure on various boards and councils, including the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) Economic Development Council, WESTMARC Board of Directors, Avondale Council Subcommittee for Boards & Commissions, Estrella Mountain Community College Business Advisory Board, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) Board of Directors.
Professionally, Vice Mayor Pineda serves as the Business Program Director at Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) and is a respected residential faculty member. His expertise was honed during his tenure as a Small Business Analyst with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), aiding individuals in business development and growth. Holding certifications in Profit Mastery and Growth Wheel as an SBDC Counselor, Mike has been an integral part of the Maricopa Community College District since 2013. His educational journey includes being an instructor in the Small Business Start-Up program at Rio Salado Community College.
From 2008 to 2012, Mike and his wife owned a real estate company specializing in REO properties. Mike holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University.
A proud resident of Avondale since 2001, Vice Mayor Pineda, alongside his wife Olivia, takes pride in raising four children. Their commitment to family is mirrored in leisure activities, such as watching sports together and enjoying rounds of golf at various courses in the West Valley.
